moderator for conferences

It's been a while since the world of live performances and events began to exist through screens. Only, these screens are mostly our Laptops/ mobile phones. No fancy huge LED's here. Inside info as I write this post in the month when I will be hosting the upcoming IFTA once again - the situation is bound to change and soon! So, how was it for us performers to host online? Truth be said, some of my fellow emcee's called it Gadget Fuckery. Not only did they call it that, they also did not indulge in these kind of lamebrained acts as they felt it was not worth their time.

What do I think about online events? Well, I'll admit I loved not having to wear pants and my ridiculous high heels which literally keep me on my toes in turn keeping me focussed. But truth be said, I saw people getting kinder- bosses not going bersek on their employees if a guest did not up show up on time for an online event, if awards were not given in the order required or if the marketing team was not able to hit the right numbers. People in powerful poistions were magnanimous and that made all the difference. It made me- the freelancer a team player. Mind you, most of these teams I have known for many years- but this time, there was a lot of "listening" which happened from their ends. CEO's, CFO's were all open- minded to inputs and suggestions bouncing from everywhere. The worldly situation was such that it brought us all to the same page and to turn over we all had to lift the page of the show with all our might. Nothing else would do.

What you see in this video is an amalgmation of work done over few days.

There are many such events and very few of them captured in pictures or videos. But, more of how my job as an Emcee shifted in these recent "online performing" days later.
